For this Design Week Mexico exhibition, we sought to create an outdoor area that still feels defined.

Embracing the existing natural landscape, the project is anchored by a large, central tree that doubles as a canopy. It was important that we worked with the tree, creating a dialogue with the hardscaping and furniture.

A complementary pavilion plays with shadows and lights—a space that embraces the outdoors, yet feels contained.

The flooring expands around the garden to create a cohesive connection with the rest of the outdoors. Not only is it an enjoyable gathering area, but it also serves as a tranquil space for contemplation as you relax on the pouf and watch the stars.

Being conscious of material use, all wood was repurposed after this project. From the materiality to the central character—the tree—the project led us to consider authenticity and the ways we connect to our environment.

The intervention carried out by Vieyra Estudio uses a play of light and shadow that accentuates the sensation of a transparent and ephemeral architecture, achieving an aesthetic emotion based on spatial function.
